Tanya's future was set. With a medical school scholarship under her belt, she was well on her way to leaving the poverty, hardship and abuse of her childhood permanently behind her. Then she got involved with a wrong kind of crowd, dropped out of her studies, and got entangled in a life of crime. Realising her mistake, she started making plans to extricate herself from this lifestyle. Until it all went terribly wrong when, during a routine robbery, she shot and killed a security guard.
Plagued by nightmares and guilt, she becomes a liability to the gang. Abandoned to her own devices and unable to get her life back on track, she does the unthinkable - she surrenders herself to the justice system in a desperate attempt to unburden her conscience and a distant hope that she may one day have the kind of life that, during her study years, she was well on her way to having.
